Book Review : Sherlock Holmes - The Sign of Four

The second book in the Sherlock Holmes saga is even better than the first. This entry in the Sherlock Homes series consists of more "action" than before. However, the clever reasoning and deductions of SH are also present.

The story is but a case of "whodunnit",and the way SH arrives at the answer, with the help of the ever-reliable Dr.Watson and one Ms.Morston.As always, anything more than that would spoil the story for first-timers.

This book is more intriguing and gripping than 'A Study in Scarlet'. However,it also has some elements of the aforementioned book, which may not be appealing to some. For instance, just like the last book,'The Sign of the Four' has flashback sequences which tend to go long, sometimes to the point of boredom.Though,it does not appear out of nowhere like the last one did,it still feels forced and much could have been shortened. Also, this time around, the story is not divided into parts but consists of 12 chapters.

In conclusion, all I can say is,if you liked the first one,you will like this a bit more.I know that that sounds rather too simple, but you might have to have a go at it and see for yourself. However,I can assure you one thing - you won't be disappointed. If anything, you will be left wanting more.

Score -7.5/10

P.S.I think Sherlock Holmes is much better rendered as multiple short-stories,rather than a book.Hopefully,I'm right.Onto 'The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes...'
