Movie Review : Interstellar

Firstly, I don't think Christopher Nolan is God. Secondly, even if he was, I don't care.If his movie is good, its good. If it's bad, it's bad. And I don't think The Dark Knight was the best (superhero) movie ever created by mankind.I, now, think you have an idea of what to expect from this review. So, lets get on with it...

I can sum up this film like so -
I GOT IT!
Nope,I didn't!
I GOT IT!
Nope,I didn't!
I GOT IT!
Nope, I didn't!
Nope, I didn't!
Nope, I didn't!
OK Goodbye.

As you can see, this was my problem with the movie. Some parts make sense, whereas others do not. Many of my friends say this is typical of CN's films but I beg to differ. Hell, I was able to follow Memento's plot.Same was the case with Inception. But,this film truly was beyond my comprehension. And I think that is not good.Let me tell you why.

Any film,IMO, is a visual medium through which you can convey stories, emotions and feelings without having someone to explain it. But with this movie, my friend, who saw this movie with me, kept asking me what was that scene/this scene all about throughout the entire movie and I was only able to impart to him, what little I got from the movie. And I don't even know if I was correct. That should not be the case. People praise CNs films for being so complex and beyond human thinking but I think that is a dumb thing to do. Now fans may argue that I am ignorant for not liking the movie because I could not understand it.Let me tell you, there is no need to argue about it because that is EXACTLY the case! I do not understand what I am watching and hence I did not care for it. But that does not mean I did not like it entirely. Here's why -

The visuals. The true saving grace of this flick. When I saw Inception in theaters, I literally fell out of my chair when I saw the earth-folding-in-half scene and I wished it to be a little longer so that I could feast my eyes on the brilliantly done CG effects. There is one similar scene in this movie and after watching that I thought I could now RIP.So the graphical effects were top notch.

The acting.Mathew McConaughey.End of story.

The music is good but nothing to be proud of.Gets the job done.Michael Caine plays Michael Caine in every CN movie he is in,so there's that.

In the end, that is all there is to say about Interstellar.I don't think it is Nolan's best and it sure as hell does not deserve an 8.9 on IMDB.

Score - 7/10
