Anime Review : Attack on Titan (Season 1)

I've heard vaguely about this series called "Attack on Titan (weirdly named but interesting nonetheless - Japanese have a way for weird titles) on the Internet and "well, why not give it a try?" I thought to me-self. Boy, was I glad!
So the plot goes like this - humanity is on the brink of extinction when humanoid titan sized monsters attack the last remnants who protect themselves behind huge walls. The main character is Eren Jaeger who vows revenge for the losses these titans have caused him and wishes to exterminate them from the face of the planet. On paper, this may sound like a dumb idea but hear me out - It is like walking dead on steroids, man! What more do you want? It has enough action, suspense, thrills and massive amounts of bloodshed to keep yer sick minds entertained.
The animation is excellent and I've got no complaints.
The music is top of the line. So much so that I downloaded the album (He's a pirate!) once the season was over. My favorite track was the ending theme of the first story arc. The voice acting (Japanese dub) is decent but I felt that there was too much unnecessary shouting in many scenes.
The one disappointing thing about season one is that the ending was not satisfying. The ending felt a bit like - been there, done that, so to speak. However, that does not imply that the show is bad, far from it. If you are starting to get into anime, I would definitely recommend this show as it really gives you a first-hand experience of what anime is all about. Waiting for season 2...
Score - 7.5/10
