Movie Review : Ratatouille
If you haven't noticed it yet, the background wallpaper of my blog (as of writing this) is of Anton Ego - one of the most meaningful and inspiring antagonists in film - history (wait, wha!?). Luckily for us, he is also the villain of the movie I'm about to review, which is as the title says, Ratatouille.
Ratatouille is one of my most favorite animated films and it rightfully deserves a place in my top 3 animated films list. And most people would agree with me on this. The story is simple - a rat who can cook makes an unusual alliance with a young kitchen worker at a famous restaurant (from IMDB). But there is more to it than that. The inner meaning that this movie puts forth to the audience that anybody can cook, or rather, anybody can be what they aspire to be is what makes this movie so inspiring.
The characters are so likable in that each one has his/her own personality and it is reflected in the way they talk, they movie, they express and so on. That brings us to the animation and as previously mentioned, the characters are so animated and full of life that you wish these guys were real. My favorite of all is Anton Ego who is this egoistic food critic who simply doesn't want to appreciate others. And I'll leave it there - anything more and the movie would be spoiled. The monologue that he delivers at the end of the movie - I cried man, I cried.
The music - simply superb. Most of the songs were in French and therefore, it went well with the theme of the film.
As a final note, all I have to say is that you owe yourself to watch this film. And trust me, you will love it!
Score - 9/10
