Movie Review : The Theory of Everything

I am not a huge fan of Stephen Hawking basically because I lack the intellect to even comprehend his theories/thoughts but I do really feel sorry for the man. I have the utmost respect for him for his contributions in the field of science. I mean, come on, he is a born genius but one day, all of a sudden, he is crippled for life? What sort of combination is that? That is just some sick twisted joke played by God and that infuriates me to the core. That being said, this movie was very painful to watch in that it is very true to the life of Dr. SH.

This movie may seem like a docu-drama at first, which for the most part it is but it has enough elements to classify it as a feature film. Firstly, the acting. Eddie Redmayne rightfully deserved the Oscar for the best actor. The guy definitely had The Oscar in mind while doing this film and it clearly shows. It was as if the real SH was on screen. Part of the credit for that goes to the make-up artists for making him look like the real SH. In some instances, I couldn't control my tears. His performance was that good! Felicity Jones and the other supporting actors were extremely outstanding with their performances and I had no complaints with the acting whatsoever.

The music was beautiful to say the least, most of it being orchestrated. It really adds to the atmosphere and the tone of the movie.

One good thing about this movie was that there wasn't too much of Scientific mumbo-jumbo. I expected a lot of it in this movie, given the subject matter but I was glad that they concentrated more on his life rather than that of his work. The story was great, the acting was outstanding, the dialogue too was very good and the movie, as a whole, deserves another watch.
