Trailer Talk/Thoughts - A Shocking Discovery: Venom

Okay people. This is exciting for me as a fan of Venom. So please excuse me if there are any errors in this article as I am not proof-reading it. Just wanted to put this out asap. You may dispose this off as another 'Trailer Talk' article but read on as this very interesting...

So, at the time of writing this (more or less), a Venom movie project has been announced by Sony which is slated for release in Oct 2018. No additional details were provided by the producers with the exception of the director/writers involved and an addendum stating that this movie IS NOT CONNECTED TO THE MCU and definitely, not Spiderman: Homecoming. At first I was like "but what's the point?" Then I was quite happy with the decision itself i.e. to make a Venom movie in the first place since I am a huge fan. Being thankful, I moved on with my merry life. Now, here comes the shocker...

I happened to randomly stumble upon this trailer on Youtube of a movie called 'Life' (I am including all the trailers here). At first, it looks like a generic 'Alien' rip-off. But as soon they show the alien itself in the trailer, my mind began to make (seemingly strange) connections some of which were like so...

1. Astronauts go to Mars in search of life and they discover an alien substance that they bring back to their ship. But wait, it suddenly has life. Now they are trying to prevent it from getting back to Earth. Well, sounds familiar...

2. We get a glimpse of Ryan Reynolds supposedly fighting off the alien with fire. Venom is weak against sound AND fire.

3. The alien is a goo like substance that can contort itself (trailer 2 @1.30). It looks like it attaches to that black guy as can be seen in the trailer.

4. Note that in trailer 2 @1:09, she mentions it as maybe having "a brain". The Venom symbiote actually has a mind off its own.

5. This movie is from Sony pictures. Guess which studio Venom is from?

6. Need more convincing? Remember the ending of the movie 'Split'? We thought it was going to be a thriller only to be totally thrown off a cliff at the very end. What say that this movie is not going in the same direction?

Naturally, I was looking for people's opinions on the trailer in the comments section of Youtube and boy, was I surprised! I was not alone. There were actually some who were making this connection! This is why I LOVE talking about movies. You can make so many speculations from a trailer of 2 minutes and sometimes have other people thinking just like you. Suddenly, these random strangers feel like people you know!

If this is indeed what I feel it is - a prequel to the Venom movie, I cannot wait to see what the Venom movie looks like. If it turns out to be a generic alien rip-off and nothing else (which is also a possibility; I mean even X-Files' story for the most part revolved around a black alien goo and that is definitely NOT connected to Venom), then I've successfully wasted your precious time. At least it makes for an interesting fan-fiction...

Please Sony, let this be a prequel to Venom.

P.S. Before you say "but Ryan Reynolds is already Deadpool in the MCU", let me reiterate again - this movie is NOT connected to the MCU (at least for now). So Ryan Reynolds may be Venom in this story for all we know. Also, Deadpool is not directly within the MCU. At least the film does not acknowledge it. The only thing that maybe doesn't add up is the color of the symbiote which is white in the trailer when it is supposed to be black. Still, I am positive it is going in the same direction. If it is not, like I said, take it as fan-fiction.

Addendum: Also, it is rumored that this Venom movie is a continuation/spin-off of the Sam Raimi's Spider-man films. *sigh* This day has been insane. I need to get some sleep.

Update (26 Mar 2017): I knew I was right! This movie is totally unrelated to Venom. It's funny how some people waste their precious time making up absurd theories from trailers alone. Get a life, people!
